| zx1100f1's Full Review: Altec Lansing ADA 880 4 Speakers |
I have read the other previous reviews on these speakers and just want to add my 2 cents worth.
First off the Good:
The speakers sound quality is extremely good, If and only if your using a very high-end Sound Card.
The 8" Subwoofer's bass output is thunderously terrifying!
The remote is very useful for those who play music through their computer while not sitting in front of it.
For games it sounds great! especially on those games that support 3D sound or EAX.
The setup is easy.
The controls are easy to use.
Altec's quality and reliability is almost second to none.
The Bad:
THE PRICE!!!!!
The aesthetics, For $300 retail they should look a little more high-end.
And yes, I have heard other speakers that sound a little crisper and clearer but none with this kind of "Hard Rock Solid Bass."
If you use a central off switch to power down your whole computer system these babies make a loud "Thump" sound unless they are turned off before power is cut to them.
For those that have noise's coming from their ADA880's, They have either a crappy sound card "although I can't imagine anyone spending this kind of dough before taking care of business first" or they have set the speakers up improperly "Wires too close to power cables" or the likes.
Bottom line:
There are other choices and many are much cheaper.
If you want BASS and bragging rights for spending more than any sane person should for computer speakers than these guy's are definitely for you.
