| jasonp5's Full Review: Altec Lansing ADA 880 4 Speakers |
The Altec ADA 880R has to be one of the best speaker sets on the market. This is only if you use them to their upmost capabilities. They require a high quality sound card to get the most out of them, and this is normally something that normal everyday computer users aren't willing to supply. Personally, as someone that uses my computer for music and games more than anything else, a good sound card was a fine investment for me.
The power of this system is incredible, it can seriously knock some windows out with the right song going. The sub woofer is loud and powerful, and makes the room shake, for some games, it is almost too powerful. The other 4 speakers can be used in two ways. Either stacked for confined sound, or spread out around a room for surround sound. Personally I use mine stacked, only because the room my computer is in, isn't large enough for a surround sound system.
The remote control is a great part to this system for the lazy folks that don't want to get up and turn the dial. The remote is basic, and contains the main volume, bass, treble, and power options, and is extremely easy to operate.
Like I said earlier, the only con to this system is that you are wasting your money unless you have a high quality sound card that will be able to get the most out of it. If you decide to spend the money on these speakers, be sure to update your sound card so that you can reap all of the benefits from this great speaker set.
