Pros: spacey looking design, sounds decent at low volumes
Cons: terrible treble, sound has gone mono
The Bottom Line: Nice looking doesn't cut it. Left channel sound on both speakers results in mono mp3 playback. Awkward controls.

| hellojed's Full Review: Altec Lansing Speaker System |
I purchased these speakers about a year ago at Fries, back when they had just come out. My apartment's made of cardboard, so I can't blast my music. At low volumes, it sounds good. But when the roommate's away and I turn up the volume, the sound becomes distorted.
The remote control is a pain. A whole apparatus just to lower or higher the volume, and you have to resort to pushing buttons as opposed to a knob, which makes for awkward control. The bass level is on the subwoofer--on the back of the subwoofer where its highly inconvienent to reach.
Somewhere along the course of the year, my right speaker decided to die and let the left channel enter it. And so I'm forced to listen to my Mp3s funny. I'm forced to listen to the left channels only, on both speakers. I've written ALtec Lansing about this, and they haven't responded. Makes me mad. If you're going to buy Altec Lansing, get the atp3s which are excellent and cheaper too.
