When I found out I was pregnant with twins, I knew I needed to get a breast pump before they arrived. I wanted to be educated about pumps and chose the best one on the market, regardless of price.
I took a breastfeeding class at the hospital and they displayed nearly every model out there for us to examine. It was great to see all the pumps, how big they were, how loud they were and what type of cycles and suction they had. The Ameda Purely Yours came very highly recommended by this lactation nurse and the mother and baby unit of the hospital. But I was still going to chose the one I liked the best. After all, I would be pumping for two babies and needed something that fit my needs. I checked out the Medela pumps, as they are the most popular. The Pump in Style was the most comparable to this pump but it was louder and I didn't like the design. I liked the simplicity of the Purely Yours. Not to mention, it was very easy to take apart for washing...all but one part is dishwasher safe, great for a busy new mom.
The parts are easy and cheap to replace. I have at least 2 extra of everything so I can rotate when one set is getting washed. I also have adapters so I can pump into Avent bottles.
I have used this pump daily for 12 months...it has outlasted my pumping career. I am so thankful for this pump, that it has allowed me to provide the very best for my babies. If you compare the cost of this pump and the cost of a year of infant formula, the savings is astounding. Very much worth the small investment!
This pump is perfect. After a year of use, I still have no complaints.
