Pros:Light, Compact, Efficient.
Cons:No spare parts.
The Bottom Line: Buy It!
Great pump! Works very well, compact, and efficient.
We first purchased this pump in 2004 when our first child was born. The pump worked very well during the time we needed it. (Approximately 6 months) We then lent the pump to a friend who used it for a couple months and now after our second child in June 2007 we have been using the pump with very good results.

However, about 2 and a half months after we started to use the pump for our second child the pump quit. Not wanting to purchase another pump I used a screwdriver and popped the top off the pump to see why it was no longer working. The problem was a small belt that runs from the motor to the pump had worn out and broke. I called Ameda and asked if they sold parts for the pump but was informed that they did not and that our only option would be to purchase another pump.
Frustrated and not wanting to pay another $180 for a pump that we would use for only another 4 months or so I decided to try another method. I found a rubber band about the same size seemed to work just fine. Plugged it in and IT WORKED!!! However, the next day the rubber band slipped off and we were back to a broken pump. I then was told by a friend that a O ring from a hardware store would probably work just fine. I went to Lowe's and purchased a 59 cent 2 pack of O rings. "Brass Craft 0609" to be precise. The ring fit perfectly! Pump is back in business and still working.
If you have this problem you don't have to purchase another pump. Just make a very inexpensive trip to the hardware store.
