Hubby and I were worn out from a day of driving down the coast of Oregon. More specifically, I was extremely irritated that 55 MPH curves were taken at 70 MPH and the speed limit was consistently violated, BIG TIME! I needed some place to rest my nerves.
We checked each of the 5 motels in the area, and found America's Best Value to be our best value.
We were greeted by a young Indian man and someone I presume to be his father. They were polite and gave us the key card for room 111. It was on the lower level, with a corridor open to the weather. Being from the Midwest, where it was 5 degrees and having to settle for a balmy 65 degree night, life was ROUGH! Palm trees graced the exterior. The property looked well kept from the outside.
We went into the room. There was a switch beside the door and I have no idea what the function was. We turned on our lights at the head of the bed, one for each side. The TV left a bit to be desired. The picture rolled and color was not true. The inside looked dated but clean. There were 2 chairs in the room, and one queen bed. There was a dresser, where the TV and my personal laptop were. I pulled up a larger chair beside. The internet connection was rather slow. It is quicker tonight, although I'm using an Ethernet cable at another lodging establishment.
The bathroom was clean, but dated. There were a few minor chips in the bathtub, which looks like it might have been covered over once. The sink sat on a modified wooden counter of sorts. Soap, shampoo and a hair dryer were provided. State regulated smoke detectors and a fire escape plan were in place, but one exited directly to the outside. The bed and pillows were comfortable. I fell asleep right away. There was a lock on the door so you could answer the door, a few inches, but still be safe. There was no security that I could see on the premises.
A continental breakfast was available in the small lobby the next morning, but we didn't stay, since hubby wanted to get on the road very early.
The room cost $46 including tax. I guess that isn't bad for lodging in California. Yes, I'd go there again, but not for "some place nice to go."
Thanks to SurgRN911 for adding this lodging.
