Pros: Excellent pool area with wading pool; nice suites.
Cons: Distance from Metro-area attractions.
The Bottom Line: If you're traveling with young children, this is a great place to stay.

| lmkramer's Full Review: Americinn Shakopee |
We went to the Minneapolis-St. Paul area for a weekend with friends, and with five children ages 3 and under in our families, we needed a family-friendly motel. We found it in the Americinn Shakopee.
We had booked a suite, and first were given a whirlpool "suite." I question its "suiteness" since it was really just a large room with a whirlpool, but that is how many motels are labeling their large rooms these days. Since this wasn't the suite I had in mind, I was quickly reassigned to a two-room suite, which was perfect. There was a large bedroom and a pleasant living room with French Doors between, which allowed us to put the kids to bed and then stay in the living area and watch a movie without bothering them.
If you have young children, however, the pool area is the best selling point. Our kids were all too small for regular swimming pools and slides (although there is a nice slide and pool at the Americinn), so for toddlers they have a wading pool with a small frog slide. It was perfect for our little ones! It's hard to find a motel with a wading pool these days.
The only downside about this motel is that it's not conveniently located to many Metro attractions. It was a 30-minute drive or better to the Mall of America, Minnesota Zoo, and other destinations. But it was a very nice room for a fair price for our young family.
