Pros: location
Cons: rooms not so nice, overpriced for what you get, sleazy reservation process
The Bottom Line: To have paid what we did, and get the type of room and service that we did, makes us feel we were duped.

| yippee1999's Full Review: Ameritania Hotel |
Seems I had a similar experience to others who wrote reviews here. Location is great. That's about it. Rooms are adequate enough, but for what we paid ($562 total for two nights, which included the tax plus a $50 "extra person" fee), we felt we were duped. We made our reservation through hotels.com (who I also had some issues with, but that's another story....). Anyway, not sure who's totally to "blame" - hotels.com and/or Ameritania but... in our reservation we indicated there'd be 3 adults and one child (8 years old). We therefore obviously needed two beds. I think the final reservation showed a "request" for two beds, and there was some type of disclaimer about there being no "guarantee". However, seeing as we clearly indicated there'd be a total of 3 ADULTS plus a child, AND they charged us a $50 "extra person" fee, we thought SURELY in the United States, they would tell us if they were NOT able to give us two beds, as SURELY that would then be considered a problem, no?
Well we checked in at 1:30p. Not only would our room not be available until 3:00p we were told, but our room only had one (king size) bed. When I protested, the clerk said "well we'll give you a pullout bed for the child". (Gee, thank you SO much Ameritania!!) WHO in this day and age seriously expects three adults to all share a bed together, especially after the insult of being charged another $50 for the "extra person" in the room??!! After protesting again, the clerk said she'd see what she could do, and finally came back with a room with two double-beds.
Again, the location was great, and for our simple needs (we don't need "fancy" hotel rooms) the rooms were adequate. But seeing as we paid over $275 per night once we got through with all the fees, and seeing how the hotel initially was going to give us ONE bed, it left a very bad taste in our mouths. $275 is alot of money for a hotel room to us, and we felt we could have done much better, if only we'd done more research. Why just a few months back we'd stayed at the Park Central Hotel, which was MUCH nicer, much more professional check-in policy, and which cost a bit LESS.
