A Grain Hog?

Sorry, that is their name for it but Ive never touched a bit of grain with my hog. Originally designed to scoop grain in silos and barns, Ive found it more useful in the landscape arena.
Constructed with a solid ABS blade and hardwood D-shaped handle, it makes clean up a breeze in any situation. My hog has a 14 blade that allows for wider coverage. The unfortunate thing about this, you tend to overload and then it is a bit heavy to lift. Moderation, folks, moderation.
The handle is 27 long with cushioned D grip for easier control. It is fairly lightweight, only 4 lbs., but by the end of the day it may seem more like 40. Not the shovels fault, consider it an age thing. It is also available with a standard 48 handle, no D grip.
Uses for the Hog
In the landscape it is perfect to cleanup debris off driveways, sidewalks, patios and the like. In grassy areas you can rake debris onto the shovel and carry it to your truck or tarp for easy disposal.
Cleaning your basement or garage? Utilize this hog for those things that have been lying around for too many years and are now untouchable, growing who knows what on the bottom of their dampened boxes. This applies to the attic or any other area that is left for way too long without attention. Let the hog be your hands for these cleaning projects. It also works well cleaning roofing debris when that remodeling project comes around, especially if you are a D-I-Y type of person.
On the farm or ranch, hauling away the left-overs from your livestock will be less intensive if you have this hands-off tool at your bidding. Might as well make the best of a bad thing.
Finally, the dreaded S word snow. Yes, even that frozen white stuff is no match for the hog. It will, however, over a period of time wear the surface down so be advised and keep a spare hog in your barn. Or think about investing in their aluminum scoop instead for this project. Weighs the same and costs about $5.00 more.
Not that I've shoveled snow [right Diane?] because I think snow, like leaves, are gifts from God. He'll eventually take them back if I just let them lay there - grin -
Ames® has been in business for over 200 years and is considered the premier in the industry. All their products carry a satisfaction guarantee, meaning they will replace any product if the customer is not fully satisfied.
They carry a limited warranty applying to defects in manufacturer but I have found they will stand behind almost any problem that arises. You will find Ames® products in most major hardware stores and in garden stores everywhere. Their products are made in the USA.
