It seems that all too often Jer is asking to sample a selection not offered on the tours. The first two times I blushed (wine tour so that was appropriate - blushed). After the initial shock of her insistance I realized there was no going back. The amazing aspect is the reaction. Her reply to a (#&$(# tourist that corrected her was something along the lines of Ask and You Shall Receive, besides what business is it of yours!

I appreciate the kind comments, one and all!

Lew -- I'm surprised to hear this beer is all Cascades. It sure doesn't whomp you upside the head with the huge grapefruit nose that most "all Cascade" brews seem to wield. As you said "well handled".

Thanks,
Mark

Great review...dead on the money!

This is one of my favorite IPAs, along with Lagunitas and the new Arrogant Bastard Ale (which, while perhaps not technically an IPA, certainly tastes a lot like one...ahh, the mystery). The Rogue brewery continues to make some tasty brews in this category too.

Kudos on another great write-up!

Right on, Mike. I was just talking to Fritz (really, it was at WhiskyFest in Chicago) and I took the opportunity to tell him I thought Liberty was a beer that had held up magnificently through 25+ years. He seemed pleased, and remarked that while he wanted Anchor Steam to be a beer that not many people liked, he wanted Liberty Ale to be a beer that hardly anyone liked. Heh.
It's all Cascades, by the way, Mark. Just well-handled.
Cheers,
Lew Bryson

I am not as big into the hops as you are, but I find myself returning to old favorites again and again as well. My fridge currently has some Liberty Ale, a few Steam beers, and a healthy dose of Stoudt's American Pale Ale, along with some Connecticut brews I pick up every now and again. Liberty Ale is overlooked by a lot of people looking for the next big weird thing, which helps those of us who like a "tried and true" favorite. cheers
