When I first learnt I was pregnant I was elated. But once the excitement became familiar, the nervousness began to settle in. I remember hearing dozens of stories of babies dying from SIDS, and mothers waking up in the middle of the night just to check to see if their babies were still breathing. I also remember being excited about hearing someone tell me that the easiest way to see if your baby was still breathing was by a mirror. The person told me to put a mirror underneath a baby’s nose in order to check if they were still breathing, I thought to myself, well that I can do.

I came close to buying myself a pocketsize mirror, until I heard of the Angelcare. Just before giving birth I heard stories about Angelcare, and most of them were VERY negative. I heard dozens of stories of parents running back to stores asking for their money back. They all claimed this product did not work. They all claimed that it ran sporadically and without cause. Knowing all I knew I still wanted to see for myself. So I asked for the Anglecare as a shower gift from one of my cousins.

Upon receiving it, I immediately handed it over to my husband, with the warning that we would probably have to return this product. The funny thing was I had noticed that the Angelcare I received looked like it had been used once before, again someone must have returned it not being pleased with it. My husband was convinced that this product had to work, and he was right.

The first thing I want to say is that the reason people return this product is because they do not take the extra time to follow the specific instructions that go along with the Angelcare. We took the time to set it up, and it has worked fantastically ever since. Most people probably do not realize that the sensor pad that fits under the mattress comes with a sensory switch that allows you to adjust jut how sensitive you want the movements to be, do not set it on very sensitive, or it will go off all the time. It also recommends that you put a piece of wood under the sensory pad, which we did. And most importantly make sure you press down on the pad before you use. My sister also received the same product and she was ready to return claiming that it was always ringing, my husband told her to follow these instructions and since then she has not had a problem.

Angelcare has given me peace of mind, every time we place the baby in his crib we make sure to turn it on. Since we have had (6 months), the alarm has only rung 3-4 times, only because lately Adam has learnt how to crawl, and he crawls to the corner of the crib, which is right off the pad. The alarm will ring if it does detect movement within 20 seconds.

Another tip is that I do not recommend the tick audible option; this option will drive you crazy. All you do is wait for the next tick sound; instead switch it over to the sound and motion switch. It also comes with a channel selector A or B; I have always left it on the same channel. The portable parents unit allows you to hear your baby from every room or floor; I usually bring it with me wherever I go.

I cannot say enough good things about this product. It has helped me breath easier, and I am eternally grateful for this fantastic product. I love Angelcare!
