| jeffs320's Full Review: Angelo and Maxie's Steakhouse |
I had never even heard of Angelo and Maxie's before the Chart House bought them in June of 2000 - see my review of the Chart House Here - http://www.epinions.com/content_23517957764. That was when the Chart House put most of their emphasis into seafood since now there was a Steakhouse owned by the same company too.
Well, about three or four months ago Angelo and Maxie's opened another restaurant in City Place in West Palm Beach, FL, and since I have some friends who live over there I figured I would go check it out.
We went in for lunch when I got over there, and was actually surprised that the restaurant was even open for lunch. Well, the bad news if you want to have lunch there is that there is no lunch menu. There are a few lunch specials that are a little less expensive, but for the most part the lunch menu is the same menu as the dinner menu, which is a little bit pricey.
The dinner menu is really excellent if you like steaks. There wasn't much else that I saw besides steaks, but there were a few different seafood items and I think like one chicken dinner, but for the most part you can expect a big hunk of beef for dinner.
I must admit that the cost for dinner might keep some people away due to the fact that they can have dinner with a date at Outback for the price of their own dinner at Angelo and Maxie's, but the difference in the quality of food is well worth it.
The wine selection is nice, but not overdone, so it is pretty easy to find a decent bottle of wine with dinner without spending your whole paycheck. I also ate lunch at the bar, and I must admit that the bar is a lot nicer than the bar at the Chart House in Fort Myers.
The atmosphere in the restaurant is very professional, the service was quite exceptional, and there is a Cigar Bar in the back of the building where you can eat dinner at a table or just sit and smoke a nice cigar (available through the restaurant if you want to buy one there) and relax for a while.
In general, I would say that if you can afford an average of between $40 and $50 per head for dinner, or if you want to go out for a special occasion, then this is one restaurant for you to definitely check out.
