The Bottom Line:

The Animal Alley Realistic Rabbits are soft and huggable, and built a lot like a real rabbit. Find them at Toys 'R Us.

My daughter loves stuffed animals, and she has quite a collection. We go through them at the end of every year, though, and she decides if she "has to have it" or not, and if not, she donates it. This leaves her room to get more to enjoy. Some are stuffed animals that we won in claw machines or bought because it was "too cute" but never really looked at again, and those she usually parts with. But, there are some she'd never part with, such as the Animal Alley Pets.

The Animal Alley Realistic Rabbit line is available at Toys 'R Us stores, and they can still be bought today. There are quite a few colors to choose from in the line though we only have four of them. They cost $9.99 each and are made to closely resemble rabbits (lop eared).

From nose to tail, these rabbits measure a little over a foot long (maybe 14") They are quite heavy for a stuffed animal, but it gives them a more "realistic rabbit" weight, I think, and make them more huggable. The "fur" on these rabbits is made from polyester fibers, but they are super soft and fluffy and the "hair" is about the length you'd find on a real short haired rabbit though a little softer.

The rabbits feel like they are filled with stuffing like cotton or Poly-fill, and they do contain polyethylene pellets (or beans), but they were generous with the filling and I think that's why the rabbits have so much weight to them. It never crossed my mind that the pellets would ever come out because these rabbits are sewn so tightly and so well that I couldn't see them falling apart, even with a little abuse.

My daughter has four colors, as I said. The first one she received was when she was maybe 6 years old, and it was solid white. The others she has are golden, brown, and a black and white rabbit (which is the one I have in front of me now!) The first one she got was for Easter one year, but the rest were for other occasions like A Honor Roll, a birthday, and a Christmas. At $10 for a stuffed toy, I've limited them to occasional gifts. She doesn't really play with them like she would her Barbie dolls or her smaller stuffed animals (like Beanie Babies), probably because they are fairly large.  When she was younger, one of them was a toy she had to take to town with us so it could ride along in the car.  It was mostly just something to hold on to and to "pet".  She mostly uses them to sleep with now.  Every night she has a stuffed animal to sleep with, and these rabbits make the rotation.  They're just soft enough, and their legs are spaced just enough, that they are a perfect fit in the crook of her arm.  I believe them to be comfortable for her, because she has fallen asleep with one under her head a time or two, as a pillow.  For her, they're mostly nighttime buddies.

The back legs on these rabbits are rather large, but much like you'd find on a real rabbit. They have soft noses, made of the same material that their body is made of only cut shorter. They also have a threaded inverted "Y" mouth. Their eyes are large and brown, and are deep set and I'll go so far as to say that, unless they're digging it out with a knife, no child could cause these eyes to fall out. My favorite part is the ears though. There's a lot of rabbit toys out there that have ears a lot like Bugs Bunny has: one long even shape. The ears on this rabbit are shaped like...to give you a visual...the sole of a shoe. The are folded at the base ear the head, but are slightly wide, then they taper thinner, and have a fatter end. They're a lot like the ears on a lop ear rabbit. I just like them.

These rabbits are great and I did wash one in the washer once (the white one) because it was taken to an outdoor sleepover party and was brought home a little dirty. I washed it in cold water, in a pillowcase, and then let it air dry. It maintained it's softness and looked as good as new, with no visible threads showing.

I would recommend the Animal Alley Realistic Rabbits to any rabbit-loving child. It's sure to win them over.
