Sometime ago I bought a couple new perches. Nice big thick perches for my Blue and Gold Macaw. I inserted one of the perches in the cage and went outside to do some chores. About forty-five minutes later I returned to the house and looked in the cage. The newly attached perch was nothing more than a heap of toothpicks on the cage floor. I pondered renting the bird out to a toothpick factory but then thought better of it knowing what a pest he could be.
I needed some kind of perch that the bird couldn’t destroy in minutes. I like perches of different diameters for optimal foot health for my birds. I would cut my own hardwood perches but I was always concerned about sprays and contaminates on the wood that I cut. I finally found the perfect perch! Ha! Turn this perch into toothpicks Riker!
The Animal Lovers Extra-Large Arbutus Bolt-In for Healthy Feet 12242. The perches are perfected for optimal food health. Most perches are made on a lathe and are perfectly round. The Arbutus Animal Lovers perch is in its natural state all crooked and misshapen.

Precaution must really be taken to protect the bird’s feet. In the wild birds perch on branches of various widths and diameters. So many perches offered for sale are all the same diameter or a constant diameter. The natural shaped perches that Animal Lovers offers are in the natural state. I’m delighted to have found a perch that can’t be made into toothpicks in minutes. I was always concerned about cutting my own branches never knowing what contaminates could be on the branches. The Animal Lovers Extra-Large Arbutus Bolt-In for Healthy Feet is certainly durable and easy to insert into the cage. The natural shaped perches are great for healthy feet and comfort. The hardwood is wonderful for beak toning. I highly recommend using the Arbutus Perches.
