The Bottom Line: This is a great read. It's such a well written book and it's worth the time for anyone who loves a good romance book without the trash.
calejo401's Full Review: Sandra Brown - Another Dawn
This isn't going to be a drawn out detail. The book starts out with Banner at the alter with her soon-to-be husband Grady. During the ceremony, a woman comes barreling in claiming she's pregnant with Grady's child. A shoot out begins.
Later that evening, Banner is feeling alone, so she goes out to the barn, where the family friend, Jake Langston, is keeping house while temporarily in town. Jake is much older than Banner, but she feels neglected and needs to be loved. They roll in the hay.
Banner's father has set aside a large piece of land for her to take over once she is married. However, she wants to take it on despite the fact she isn't married. Her father confronts Jake and says the only way Banner can take control is if Jake is the ranch foreman. Jake strongly rejects this offer, however after much coaxing by the father, he takes the job.
The rest of the story is about Banner and Jake learning to grasp and accept their feelings of each other, the hardships of trying to get a relationship going on top of running a ranch.
It's such a good book. I've read it three times and haven't got sick of it yet. There are some twists and turns that do keep you thinking "jeez, would they just accept the fact that they love each other!".
The love scene's are beautifully written. Not trashy in the least.
