elyse449's Full Review: Answer One-Step Pregnancy Test
A lot of us have made that trip to the store, haven't we? You know the one I'm talking about don't you? The one where you go into the store, bypass all the other patrons and come to the section labled "feminine hygiene?" Yes that's the one alright. For some this is a blessed time and for others it may be more uncertain, either way I'm going to tell you about a test that at least helps you to know one way or the other.
I had a baby last November and my monthly visitor had been "odd" every since then so I didn't think much of it when I didn't have it right away this month (September 2002). I decided that I simply needed to know and although I didn't "feel" pregnant it was worth going on over to the store and grabbing a test.
In general I am not picky about pregnancy tests and in the past they're usually right on no matter which brand I use and I've used several over the years. First thing I checked was the expiration dates on the boxes to make sure the tests were still good. The next thing were prices and there were prices from 6.99 on up into the teens. I then looked for ease of use and since I wasn't interested in fumbling with cups and test strips I finally settled on "Answer One-Step Pregnancy Test" on sale for 8.99, much more my price range than others. Also the box had a seemingly newly added sticker that said "Free Test Inside: Two tests for the price of one!" Great I thought, I can test now and get a negative and than test in another week just to make sure!
First thing about this particuliar brand is that it is the pee-on-a-stick kind. What I liked about it though was the area you are to urinate on is located on the other side from where you'll be reading your results. Ok so there I am, I did read the directions carefully (which I recommend you do just so you're aware of the way it works) and I then laid the strip "results side up" on the bathroom counter.
As I stood there I noticed one little pink line, great-according to the directions that just means it's working. But the longer I stood there the more I noticed this second little pink line forming. I looked again at the directions and sure enough, it said if I got a second line I was pregnant. So we're all rejoicing and happy, amazing how one little stick can do that much!
With this particuliar test stick all you do is urinate where it shows you to, it even does you the courtesy of having it right on there with an arrow towards where you are to urinate along with the word urinate. On the opposite side of the stick you'll have your result window. One line will form no matter what to show you the test is working but if you get that second line that means your pregnant. No second line? That means you are not pregnant.
As always though it is recommended you confer with your health care professional immediately for final confirmation.
