ladiazii's Full Review: Answer One-Step Pregnancy Test
I took the Answer One-Step Pregnancy Test the Sunday after Christmas of this year. In the past I have not had really good results with home pregnancy tests. I don't know if I have low HCG levels or what, but I usually fail a good many of them only to find out later in the week with a doctors test that I am indeed pregnant!
The way all home pregnancy tests work is that they detect the presence of the pregnancy hormone HCG. Some tests can detect a lower level than others can. This test is a wand type stick that is held in the urine for a specific number of seconds. Some have difficulty holding it in the stream for that long, so I usually use a test cup and then "dip" the wand in. This comes from my experience with the old fashioned cup and test tube type of home test.
The Answer home pregnancy test gave me the unmistakable "positive" answer right away! No need to retest when it comes up positive right away! I think I waited until day 35 to test, knowing how I am with home tests. I gave the other test to my neighbor, because she was also trying at the time.
Her's confused us at first, because unlike many other tests, the control line was not in the first space, it was in the second. That had us initially excited when it appeared, but there was only one line and upon checking the box again, that did mean negative. We guessed that, at the absence of two lines, but it did throw us off because we had both used home tests frequently.
I recommend this home test as opposed to tests such as the Walmart home pregnancy tests that come two in a box, I think they are called Equate. Those must require higher HCG levels because I failed a good many of those the same week I lab tested with my last pregnancy. But, that may be because it was before day 35 or that the tests were not as sensitive then as they are now. That was late 1996.
