Pros: very easy to hold play
Cons: comprimised acoustic sound
I have owned this particular guitar for about 3 years now. Actually I have th black model, not the pictured wood grain model. While it is by far not my favorite guitar, it is a decent sounding and playing guitar for the small amount of money. Actually, every time I drop it (accidentally) the sound improves. However, the whole seems to be greater than the sum of its parts.
When examined closely, most of the features of the guitar aren't that impressive. The first major problem I had with it was the fact that the fret wire jutted out from the neck of the guitar making playing almost painful. For a few dollars I had them shaved down so that they didn't shave my fingers down. (However, my friend bought the same guitar and did not have the same problem so it could be an isolated incident.) Aside from that, I am not all impressed either with the tone and volume controls. They seem to do little or nothing to change the sound. Well, the tone that is, the volume distorts terrible at loud volumes. Actually, I usually play through a Fender tube amp and it sounds great with the guitar volume down and the amp up. But, when I play through my little Fender amp, you can't turn the guitar up to make up for the lack of sound in the amp.
On the acoustic side of the guitar, It would be a stretch to say this guitar is acoustic sounding. My brother bought a 20 dollar acoustic guitar from a junk store with better acoustic tones than this guitar. It doesn't hold its tuning very well. After a short jam session, it needs to be retuned.
This guitar is excellent with ecclectic tastes who doesn't actually excel in any particular type of playing, like me. The size and shape make it easy for someone without a lot of experience and small hands to handle. Its exptremely light and constructed with some sort of plastic which has proven to hold up pretty well for a beater guitar. For the money, its a great beginners guitar. I keep it in my collection as my "camping" guitar. Something to beat around, but it isnt suitable to play gigs with.
