Is that an iMac? That's the question I hear the most when new folks walk into my office. I point across the room to the little iMacs behind me - this thing looks like a behemoth in comparison.
It would be great if iMacs sat up on the nifty stand that this monitor has though. It's great for sliding the G3 keyboard out of the way when you are doing paperwork - it fits right underneath (see handy illustration to the right).
As monitors go, I thinks it's pretty good, too. Bright, sharp, and capable of resolution high enough to make you think you're on the last row of cars at a drive in theater (of course the ATI RAGE 128 graphics card in the Bondi G3 with 16MB of SDRAM helps, too).
It's also super-positionable. You can almost turn it completely around for anyone to view your screen from almost any angle. Great for presentations.
The only bad thing is the precision monitor controls - navigating the on-screen PC-like adjustment menus (brightness & contrast, geometry etc.) via the buttons on the front of the unit is downright difficult. I much prefer the good old "Sound & Monitors" control panel method that is utilized by my trusty AppleVision 1710 AV at home.
Fortunately, I haven't had to adjust anything on this monitor since the day I took it our of the box six months ago. Surely that's a good sign.
It's also a great price for a pretty big screen.
