Cons: Small number of Software available (expensive most of the time)
The Bottom Line: This is a great machine for your home use, especially for Multimedia activities. iMovie, iPhoto, iDVD and iTunes are incredibly easy to use and powerful.

Like many others I got fed up of my PC desktop at home. It was crashing all the time, very noisy, slow (to run and to boot) and was taking too much space on my desk.
I decided to upgrade it with a better one: with better performance, flat screen, nice design, DVD burner (not a requirement but definitely a ) ...
Well it turned out that when I calculated the price of my "dream PC", I wasn't far from $2k. And then I looked at the Mac ...
Price being almost the same, I looked a little closer to what I was getting with the mac, and this is when I decided to switch:
- Stable system built on UNIX.
- Friendly operating system that does not look like my work machine.
- nice 16x9 for factor for the flat screen.
- Cool design
- Small size.
Then I took it home, and I discovered several advantages:
- REALLY plug and play (mouse, keyboard, printer, digital cameras, firewire camcoder, ...) All that without having to install any driver !!!
- I got 2/3 of my desk space back (compared to my old PC)
- the screen is of Great quality.
Well, I am pretty happy with my purchase.
However there are few things that are still bothering me:
- There are not a lot of softwares out there that support Mac OS X
- Some of the common free software you are used to might not be free anymore (Real Player is an example)
- there are no web cam that are currently supported by Mac OS X
- Available Softwares are expensive
- You need to unlearn what you are used to with windows and learn them the Mac way, Otherwise you might get very upset (I sometime do)
Overall, I am pretty happy that I switched.
Agreed, my Mac will not grow with me (apart from the RAM) but it is pretty advanced already and more than enough for my home and Multimedia stuff. (iPhoto, iMovie and iDVD are great!)
