| mickeykay's Full Review: Apple PowerBook G4 15.2 in. (M8591LL/A) Mac Notebo... |
Apple's recent addition to their array of laptops has a lot to say for itself. The inclusion of OS 10 is a welcome treat. Although the system is a bit unreliable (running several applications at once can result in lengthy command delays and the occasional need to force quit), it has a ton of features that will satisfy the most ardent of Mac fans.
OS 10 provides a redesigned interface that makes using a computer easier than ever. The new "dock" toolbar eliminates the need to enter several folders in order to open an application, and browsing between folders has been reduced to simple back and forward buttons similar to those in web browsers.
One fault of these machines is that no sufficient multimedia, or even word processing software is included. You can buy Microsoft Office for an extra $1,000, or attain the less expensive Micosoft Works, but one should expect some decent software when spending several thousand dollars on a machine.
All in all, though, the Powerbook is a good buy. It is both fast and effective, and offers all the advantages typically associated with macs.
