isillyducki's Full Review: Apple Mighty Mouse (MA086LL/A)
I bought this mouse a few days ago, and I grew accustomed to the feel and structure of it rather quickly. I switched from a two button, tiny, round SIIG mouse to Apple's Might Mouse because I wanted to see what all the hype was about. I wasn't really in dire need of a two button mouse from Apple since I was already using a two button mouse that I had been using with my PC before I switched to my ibook.
The first thing I noticed was that it's a two button mouse, with a one button look. This may be a marvelous thing to those that are curious as to how it may work. Apparently, it's a touch sensitive mouse, so it knows when you're right clicking, or left clicking. Now, the thing about this is if you have both fingers on the mouse and you click, it will assume you are right clicking. To left click, you have to remove your pointer finger so that only your middle finger is left on the mouse so that the mouse knows that you are left clicking. This may take some taking used to for some people, and it may come easily for others. If you're accustomed to the one button mouse, you can program it so that it works as a one button mouse instead of two.
The mouse is fully programmable after you install the necessary software that comes with the mouse. If you have a mac, on default, the scroll button, when clicked will bring up dashboard, and the two side buttons, when squeezed will bring up expose. Like I said though, it is fully programmable and you can set it up to bring up whatever you want.
The scroll button allows 360 degree movement which comes in handy when viewing files such as PDFs or large picture files.
Apple doesn't specify how many DPI (dots per inch) the mouse has, but searching google, I have found that it has 800 DPI, which is double that of the standard 400 DPI on typical lower end mice, but slower than other higher end mices that may have 1000+ DPI.
