Pros: Charge the battery, turn it on and off you go. It's that easy.
Cons: short battery life, more expensive than a comparable PC
The Bottom Line: The iBook is great and still holds its own, despite being 7 years old. A great laptop for a student who wants an user friendly interface with a stylish design.

| climbholmes's Full Review: Apple iBook G4 14.1 in. (M9848LL/A) Mac Notebook |
After much deliberation my wife and I bought our first laptop, a refurbished iBook G4, on a recommendation from a friend of ours who works as a independent programer in silicone valley. First off, the look and design of the iBook is appealing. It is white with simple, clean look that hints at a design steeped in art deco. I was a PC guy up until now and had no patience to learn the ropes around a new system. But to my surprise the Apple OS (Tiger at the time) was beyond user friendly and within minutes exploring around I began to feel like a computer whiz (which I am far from). That was almost 5 years ago now, and the lil' iBook is truckin right along (it is what I am using right now). I have used it to do everything from editing video to make home movies, to editing photographs, to recording music, surfing the net, writing papers, keeping track of a budget, making powerpoint lectures and even educating my three year old daughter. The included software, iLife, has almost everything the average person needs to get the most out of their iBook; iTunes, iPhoto, iDVD, Garageband ect.. . I would recommend purchasing the Microsoft Office software suite, though. I don't think I could get by without MS Word, Entourage or Powerpoint, but thats just me. If you are looking for a dependable, durable and functional laptop and don't mind spending a little extra, the iBook (or any of the new MacBooks for that matter) will more than exceed your expectations.
