Pros: Powerful, efficient, stable and stylish. With the Mac Airport, its a dream.
Cons: Power cord adapter plug-in not tough enough; had to replace after 1 month.
The Bottom Line: A light, fast, efficient laptop with no system problems; an utterly user-friendly computer. Worked like a dream right out of the box; tough and portable.

| wwpsd's Full Review: Apple iBook 12.1 in. (M8485LL/A) Mac Notebook |
I bought the iBook after a lifetime of pc use; I was enticed to buy a Mac after seeing the Apple Airport (wireless modem) in action. The combination of this light, uttlerly portable laptop and the wireless modem means I can move the computer around the house and hang out with it in the yard without worrying about any cords. When feeling particularly, um, relaxed, I can surf the internet in bed, with the little laptop on my lap (where else?) again, without cords. It worked right out of the box (I bought it over the internet, from the Apple website) without any trouble.
The took a GRE review course comprised of 9 hours of video instruction pulled off a website; the laptop worked perfectly. The operating system rarely freezes up; when it does its because I've encountered something kooky on a website. The keyboard is ample. The monitor is sharp. Its lightweight and slim - I can slip it into my larger purse easily - and it does everything its asked. It really is a joy to own, my little computer buddy.
One caveat: the power cord adapter, the actual piece that plugs into the laptop, is rather fragile. I haven't been that careful with it, but I haven't put it through any unusual abuse either, and I had to replace it within a few months. Now, a few months after that, the replacement adaptor looks like its going to take a dive in the same fashion as its predecessor. The able staff at the local Apple store replaced it for free the first time; we'll see how it goes next time. Its a shame to have to deal with this but its a minor headache compared to the impressive aggregate headache/backache I had from the schlepping and the freezing and other antics of my previous machines.
Otherwise, it is pretty tough; my dog (35 pounds of bull terrier) has pounced on the keyboard a few times now without any noticeable ill effects.
