MAC AND ITS ESSENTIALS

The Bottom Line: GET IT OR MISS OUT! because it is the computer that will switch you to macintosh. And make you happy about being a Mac user.

Forever I thought that macs were bad computers and not useful at all. Then in February 2001, I sort of changed my mind. When my mom first saw the computer she wanted it because it was pretty. Funny reason to buy a computer huh? I wanted it because I could get a new computer with a DVD-R I really didn’t care what it was at the time Mac or no Mac.
I knew this was the computer for me from the beginning when I opened the box. When I saw the one cord I was amazed. With my windows machine there was at least 5 or 6 cords one running to the speakers one to the monitor etc. Whenever I would walk by the cords I thought I was going to trip on them. The second most appealing thing about the Mac was the fact that it was all in one and like the commercial you could move the screen so many which ways. The two biggest design problems for me was the fact that it didn’t have a floppy drive, which I was so used to on my computer. And number two trying to find the CD drive button, but once I found this new toy it wasn’t a flaw anymore.
Finally I turned it on and a new world opened up. This menu appeared at the bottom letting me open multiple programs and being able to see what exactly was open unlike windows. I could also check my email in instant make movies, view photos and listen to music without it crashing. This was an amazing event is all I knew about my windows machine as there was always a problem and it was always crashing. When I started really exploring the computer I looked at the IMOVIE and the IDVD programs. I liked it so much I bought Final Cut Pro. And I liked that so much I got a new Canon video Camera. I guess some would say I have fallen in love with Macs I guess I have and it is all because of this computer.

Cons
The only con I can see is the fact that this machine does not have a double click mouse, which saves time and energy from holding the mouse down every time you have to copy something. The second con about the Macintosh computer is the fact that it is not compatible with most games and the games it does have are a waste of time. I think one of the worst thing that Mac does is the way they number there processor. 800mhz looks really slow but this sleek computer feels like you are working with three gigs of power possibly more. A MUST IS THE NEED FOR MORE RAM HAVE AT LEAST 512 MB IN YOUR COMPUTER.


Essential Software
The software for this computer is very scarce, there are a few programs though the one I am using right now. Office X for Mac is even better than the one for windows this program is a must have to successfully operate your computer. The other necessary piece of software is Norton Anti-virus, which is especially made for Mac and really helps keeps out the viruses.

Bonus Arts software’s
The Mac is widely accepted by the world of media and is the standard for this art. If you are a graphic artist this is a must. One program to utilize this is Final Cut Pro 3, a tough program to operate, but worthwhile when you learn how to properly use it. If you are an amateur you will be just fine with the already included easy to use IMOVIE. The second of these art programs if you are into making serious art would be Photoshop by Adobe. This complex program allows you to get the most out of your photos if you can afford it get it. But again if you are an amateur IPHOTO will be the easiest with the ability to order photos you’ll never have to leave home.
