Best phone could be better!

Pros: Best interface in market.
Stable OS.
Full fledged browser.
Cons: Pricey.
No 3G.
Limited Enterprise support.
No 3rd Party Apps.
The Bottom Line: A great smartphone. Pricey! For the gadget lover in you. Not yet ready for business prime time but should get there with the 3G release this summer.

The iPhone is undoubtedly the best smart phone available on the market right now. There have been attempts by other companies to match the ease of use and the technology (for example the LG View, Glide) but all of them have fallen short. The nearest competitor to the iPhone seems the HTC Diamond which is supposedly set to launch sometime later this year but from what I have seen, the interface might still be clunky and not as slick as the iPhone. With the iPhone, things just work.
The phone just seems to work flawlessly. No dropped calls, weird issues with different applications interacting with each other, which as a windows smartphone user for 2 years now, can be a huge pain in the wrong place.
The fact that it has the full-fledged browser (and not a "stripped down" version) is a big plus too. You don't have to wonder if you can go to a site because it is not compatible for the mobile browser. If it works on your computer, it will work on your iPhone. :)
And then you have a complete iPod in your pocket which is one of the best iPods Apple has released so far. With cover flow and touchscreen interface, the iPod experience is delightful. It's like touching your music. :)
So what could be better?
The Network: The current iPhone runs on the AT&T EDGE network which is slower than the 3G network they have. This phone will definitely work as its prime on a 3G network. Hopefully the newer iPhone rumored to be released this summer will solve this issue.
3rd Party Apps: Initially the iPhone SDK was not open to the public. This is where windows got it right. By opening up the SDK to community developers, it helped more applications being developed which made more people to buy the phone. The good thing is that Apple did open up their SDK in February, 2008. Hopefully it will cause developers to create cool apps which will increase the phone adoption.
Enterprise Support: This initial release does not let you get Push email via Outlook or sync your office calendar. 2 big things if Apple wants to be a serious competitor in the smartphone enterprise market. Again, with the opening of the SDK this should be available soon, hopefully in the summer 208 release.
Kudos to apple for creating such a great phone on their first major iteration. It's amazing how they beat phone manufacturers who have been creating clunky phones for the last 25 years with their 1st attempt.
I will definitely be the first one in line to get the 3G iPhone when it comes out and unleash the animal on the faster network when it releases this summer. Can't wait to get my hands on it!
