abercrombieaf's Full Review: Apple iPod mini 2nd Generation Blue (6 GB) MP3 Pla...
I have wanted an iPod for a while but couldnt see myself paying that kind of money ($200-4gb or $249-6gb)on an mp3 player. I had a 256 mb Rio and kept onto it for as long as I could. That just became a hassle, it only held about 60 songs so i found myself cutting songs i really wanted to listen to. And on a long flight, you want more than a 60 song variety to choose from. The sound quality was okay, but there wasnt that much stuff you could do with it... Basically listen to your 60 songs on repeat and thats it. So now thats the mp3 player i use for yard word, and other jobs that could potentially damage my ever-so-awesome iPod!
I get it home and i install the software.. pretty easy, took a while but it wasnt bad. I plug it in and i get an error message. I look in the instruction booklet and although very helpful, my problem was a step above the manual. I call the 1800 help line and my iPod was working within 10 minutes!! Most of the time i dread calling 1800 help lines but Apple's was awesome; Very kind service, the man sounded like the actually liked his job, he was a pleasure to talk to.
I open iTunes, the software used to install music, and although its a little confusing at first, you pick up REALLY FAST. Now that i have the hang of it, its the easiest software i have seen for an mp3 player. You have everything in your "Library" which is basically all the songs on your computer. If you want the song on your iPod you put a check by it, if you dont want it on, you leave the check box empty. If you want to upload a CD, you pop it in the drive, push upload, and all the songs are transfered to your "Library". You can download new songs which wil then be in your library also. The next time your plus your ipod up via USB (provided in the box) all of your new songs will be uploaded automatically or any songs you unchecked will be removed. EASY AS THAT!!! It is VERY fast too.. to upload about 70 songs from your library to your iPod takes about 2 minutes.
Now your ready to listen to your music. You turn it on and click music. In order to scroll though the menu slide your finger around the white circle.. Although it doesnt turn, it's touch sensitive. Once you select music, you can select your music by Artist, Song, Album, Genre, or Composer. Once you choose start listening! The iPod has Awesome sound quality, which i would say is equal to a CD.
The iPod mini can also be used as an address book, although i havent used that feature. It also has 3 pre loaded games as well, as well as a clock, alarm clock, calender, and countless other features.
I got a few extras after i purchased my iPod. I got an iTrip which broadcasts your ipod through an unused FM radio station. If you are driving and your once unused station becomes used, you can change the station to any station you find free. This is completly wireless and great if you dont want to drive around with your headphones in. I also got a stereo dock which lets me charge my iPod and connects it to my home entertainment system. GREAT sound quality from the stereo dock. Anyways you can get covers for the ipod mini, speakers, etc. About anything you can think of, they make for these little things.
Anyways, if your looking for a good mp3 player, with GREAT sound quality, very easy to use software, tons of extras, great style... i could go on forever... then the iPod mini is for you!! For more information and exact specs the apple website is VERY helpful, www.ipod.com.
