Pros: iTunes Library, Wifi/Internet/Email, 3rd Party Accessory compatibility
Cons: None
The Bottom Line: iPod Touch is the premier MP3 Device with apps that combine MP3 and PDA functions backed by the largest library of content via iTunes. A definite recommend!
MIDIMonster323's Full Review: Apple iPod touch 1st Generation (32 GB) MP3 Player
I was an initial iPod hater....until my kid got the 5G iPod Video and I saw what was truly the marriage of music software and hardware.
So, for Christmas, I got a 16GB iPod touch and found out I needed more space for my library. So, when the 32GB came out, it was just what I needed.
This device marries all of the things that make an MP3 player great-a software that provides more content(iTunes), a name that people know and trust(Apple), 3rd Party accessory support, and being the #1 selling MP3 line of players.
Ok, onto the device review.
The 32GB iPod touch comes with built-in software-Safari Browser, Calendar, Mail(Support for YMail, Gmail, .Mac, Aol, and other), Contacts, YouTube app, Stocks, Maps, Weather, Clock, Calculator, Photos, Notes, and a Wifi Version of the iTunes store. This model comes with the January Update of Apps that the 16GB initial purchasers had to pay $20 more dollars for. The hardware inside is impressive as the iPod debuts its WiFi piece which seamlessly integrates and is easy to configure access to home or WiFi networks.
The iTunes integration is the best yet considering the latest 7.6 release of the software that includes movie rentals that look crisp and clear on the Touch. Touch's ability to view as portrait or landscape make the videos, album coverflow, and photos beyond bearable to see. I can't watch a video on the 4G iPod because that screen is too small for me, but the Touch clearly was designed well for that.
The touch-screen is very responsive, clear, and has a beautiful display. The sound is excellent of any iPod to date as the EQ settings get better. Wished for a customizable EQ, so maybe a firmware update will take care of that. Album art looks very nice.
Battery life has yet to fall under the 22 hours as long as the WiFi is off most of the time.
As I use this more, I will update this review. The iPod Touch is the premier MP3 device and nothing comes close to it.
