| MumMumMum's Full Review: Aqua Leisure SunSmart Hideaway Pool |
We moved into our new house (new to us anyway!) last summer, five days after our next door neighbours moved into their house. Because we were both relatively new to the neighbourhood we got to know each other fairly quickly having that in common. My neighbour had a baby last September and this summer hes been ready for his first forays into the pool world. Since we set up our Intex Pool weve been spending a lot of time in our back yard, and since there is no fence between our yards ChubbyMan has set up his pool close to our H2O! kiddie pool and our Intex Easy Set Pool so we could all spend time together. Having said that, I realize that I do not own this Aqua Leisure SunSmart Hideaway Pool, but spending quite a lot of time with ChubbyMan and my BabyGirl playing in and around it, as well as setting it up, I do feel I know enough about it to review it.
When I first spotted the Aqua Leisure SunSmart Hideaway Pool I thought it looked like such a smart idea. Taking a little one out in the sun can be rather tricky. You want it warm, but not too hot, you want shade and to protect your little one from the summer suns harshness. But sometimes thats hard to do. My neighbours have no trees in their yard, and the trees in our yard are too far from their yard to give them any shade at all. So the sun in the back yard can be pretty harsh and unforgiving. That being the case the Aqua Leisure SunSmart Hideaway Pool seemed like the perfect solution for her nine month old son and his water dreams.
The Aqua Leisure SunSmart Hideaway Pool consists of a bottom panel and two inflatable yellow rings approximately three feet across and ten inches deep. So in effect its your basic run of the mill inflatable baby pool. Whats different is the covering sun hood. Comprised of white, yellow and blue inflatable sections, it hooks onto the bottom portion of the pool with little clear plastic hooks and provides protection from the suns rays. It covers almost half of the pool. It takes no time to inflate, and adding water takes very little time as well since it is a very small area, just right for little swimmers like ChubbyMan.
Now, heres the problem with the Aqua Leisure SunSmart Hideaway Pool. The sunhood covers almost half of the pool. That means that your options for where you want to place the sunhood are limited to one place only because of the placement of the three hooks. So if you decide to take your little one out into the pool youd best decide where you want the pool and the sunshade before you fill the pool. And in order to do that you better know when youre taking your little one out and where the sun will be. The pool is difficult if not impossible to turn or move when its full of water.
The Aqua Leisure SunSmart Hideaway Pool is a great idea that just needs a little bit more thought. Making the sunhood so that it covers exactly half, or placing more hooks on the pool to enable a parent to place the hood in different places would make this pool ideal for little swimmers in my opinion. But ChubbyMan loves it and highly recommends it.
As always, remember to never leave your child unsupervised in or near the water. And use sunscreen!
