I'm glad you found my review helpful! Some LFS are simply in the business to make money, there is absolutely no reason to spend $900 on a skimmer for a 55 gallon tank. There are many excellent skimmers out there for a 55 that are less than $200-300.

How do you like the CPR BakPak?

Thanks for the comment!

I am getting back into the hobby after taking 7 years off. I have a tank and wet dry filter. Skimmer technology has changed quite a bit. To get my 55 gal. going the pet store tried to charge me $250 for a skimmer, $150 each for a couple of pumps, $40 each for bags of live sand, etc. The whole bill would have been $900 just to get my tank updated.

The Remora is on Ebay for not less than $150.

The bak pak is on Ebay for $100 but I found a used one for $50.

Thanks for the review.
