Pros: Very warm, comfortable, about as dressy as a fleece sweater can be.
Cons: By being made mostly of natural fabrics, it forgoes some of the advantages of fleece.
The Bottom Line: For those bored by the 100% utilitarian, recommended.

| mortalcoil's Full Review: Arc'teryx Mens Gothic Cardigan |
This is a bit of an oddity in the Arc'Teryx line, a sweater resembling a technical fleece, but deliberately emphasizing style over function. Salient features:
- Wool/cotton external fabric bonded to polyester fleece. This makes the sweater quite warm, but bulky. It is heavier and less packable than a 100% fleece sweater, but the wool blend gives it a neat appearance, while the polyester backing keeps the wool from itching. A big plus is that the fabric is machine-washable.
- Roomy fit. Perhaps because the fabric is less stretchy than polyester, the shoulders of this sweater are cut rather spaciously. If you were layering this with any other ArcTeryx sweater, the Gothic would always go on the outside.
- All-metal zippers. This is clearly a stylistic element, and changes the tone of the garment. I haven't tried this, but I suspect that a black Gothic cardigan might get you past a formal restaurant's jackets-for-men dress policy, while, say, an ArcTeryx Gamma SV jacket almost certainly would not.
I wouldn't recommend this as anyone's first or only ArcTeryx garment; it's perhaps the brand's least-representative item.
What this sweater evokes is really old-school ski fashion, before synthetics, when all ski clothes were wool. That being said, it is perfectly functional for a warm day of skiing, especially if style is part of the function.
