Pros: movable features, stylish color, great price
Cons: It?s a Barbie product
Christmas is always great for the kids in my family. They always get a million gifts a piece and they have to play with every one of them that first day. Of course this gives Aunt Kim a chance to play with lots of toys also. This past Christmas we took a family cruise, but my mother still shopped for all of the little ones in my family. When we came back from the Caribbean, she headed to the JcPenney Outlet at the Sawgrass Mills Mall to find some spectacular deals.
My niece is not picky about her toys, she likes everything from the Bratz, to Barbie and Dora the Explorer. When my mother spotted a Barbie Ford Escape SUV, she didnt think twice about throwing it in the cart. Regularly priced at $29.99, this SUV was marked down to $19.99. It was just our luck that JcPenney was also offering 50% off the clearance prices. We purchased this SUV for a steal at $10.
Barbie & Friends have an outdoor adventure in her Escape SUV!
This SUV comes packaged like most other childrens toys, with all those plastic pieces holding it onto the box. The removal process requires scissors and probably should be completed by an adult. The Barbie Ford Escape SUV itself has small pieces included and is not recommended for children under 3 years old. I wouldn't even recommend it for children under five unless you want to loose hose tiny pieces.
Included in the SUV playset are several small pieces: backpack and towel, cooler, two soda bottles, canteen, lantern, map, 2 soda cans, camera, plastic tray to hold drinks, binoculars, flashlight, and bandaids.
Manufactured by Mattel, this red SUV has grey trim and looks great compared to the Barbie vehicles of my day (though I did like the Barbie Ferrari I had). This SUV looks fun and the bright red color seems to suit Barbies style and is a nice change from the regular pink color, although the size of the vehicle is a little on the small side. The inside will hold four full-sized Barbie dolls or similar dolls, although it is a tight squeeze in the back seat. These dolls, of course, are not included with the SUV. A few of the movable features include side mirrors are move in and out, fold-down seats, and the plastic seatbelts. And of course the back hatch opens up like a real SUV to stow away all the little pieces that come with the vehicle. This excited my niece because she loves my vehicle and stated that it opens just like it.
Overall, my niece has enjoyed this Barbie Ford Escape SUV. The vehicle itself is safe for her to use and even for her younger brother thanks to the plastic construction. Barbie products have not changed a whole lot over the years, Mattel just seems to come up with variations of what they already have on the market just to garner sales. So this SUV is probably about the same quality as the vehicles that I played with when I was younger.
But my niece enjoys this SUV so the money was well spent. She likes the fact that she can put four dolls into it rather than two and that it actually roles across the floor. Despite the fact that it has hit many walls and furniture, this SUV is still in great shape. She actually still plays with it since my brother made her give away some of her older toys (which included a Barbie car), and she brings it with on occasional visits.
If you're child is into Barbie or just likes play cars, then I definitely recommend the Barbie Ford Escape SUV. It's not a large vehicle, but it is larger than some of the other one's on the market.
