Pros: controls odors only if you scoop daily, good price
Cons: clumps fall apart, dusty, cats don't like it, tracks litter all over your house
The Bottom Line: Might work for some, but it didn't work for me. Left me asking "Honey, what's that smell?"

| JENNI1396's Full Review: Arm & Hammer Super Scoop Cat Litter |
There’s nothing like walking into a house and smelling the litter box the minute you walk in. Even worse is when it happens in your house. My husband and I are human parents to 4 cute and cuddly felines. So it’s important we find litter that keeps my cats happy and my house smelling great so when company walks in they won’t even know we have cats until a ball of fur runs up to greet them.
The search for a great litter…
I want a fairly cheap clumping litter that controls odor and clumps well and doesn’t fall apart the minute you go to scoop it. I’ve tried just about every clumping litter under the sun trying to find the best odor controlling and best clumping litter out there to keep our fur babies happy (and us too). We used Fresh Step Scoop for almost a year until recently it stopped doing it job of keeping odor away. We decided to try Arm & Hammer’s Fresh Clean Scent Super Scoop since it was on sale at our local Pet store.
The real test is do the cats like it. The answer is yes and no. Two of our cats are very picky about litter, food, who can hold them, who they lay by at night, you name it and they’re picky about it. The other two don’t have a care in the world. Two of them didn’t care what kind of litter is their box, as long as it’s litter they go in it. The other two 25% the time went on the floor, the other 75% of the time they went in the box.
Arm & Hammer Super Scoop claims to be 99% dust free (which is good for people or pets with allergies). When I used it this wasn’t the case. When I poured the litter into the box dust went flying everywhere and the cloud of dust took a few minutes to settle. Meanwhile my daughter who was near me kept rubbing her face and sneezing from the dust. One of my cats also likes to dig and fling litter everywhere so we also get dust from that. Compared to other brands I’ve used Arm & Hammer Super Scoop is at the bottom of the heap for being dust free.
Super Scoop states their litter clumps hard and fast on contact. This is supposed to trap odors on contact and keep them from escaping and smelling up your house. Super Scoop uses the ingredient baking soda as the odor neutralizer that destroys odors caused by germs. This did an alright job if you scoop daily. If you go even one day without scooping the box starts to smell and the litter defeats it’s purpose of trapping in odors. Sometimes my husband or I forget to scoop and this is when you could tell we have cats. When we scooped daily the odor was controlled and you wouldn’t know we had cats until you saw them.
Even though the clumping action kept in the odors it didn’t do so well when it came time to scoop. Whenever we went to scoop they feel apart and left wet particles from urine in the litter and the fumes don’t smell all the wonderful either-yuck! With other brands the clumps didn’t fall apart when scooping.
With other brands we could get away with cleaning out the whole box twice a month. With Super Scoop we had to change the whole box every 3 or 4 days because the wet particles of litter left behind after scooping escaped into the house and you could smell urine. The 21 lb. box we bought lasted us a little over 2 weeks, between refilling it every time we scooped and cleaning the box thoroughly every 2 weeks. With other brands they same amount of litter lasted 3 or 4 weeks.
Super Scoop claims to track less litter around your house then other brands. This is not true in my case. I find grains of litter all throughout my house, it’s worse in the perimeters of the box. Because the litter is so fine and grainy it’s hard to vacuum up. I vacuum the whole house daily and no matter how many times I vacuum by the box it doesn’t all come up.
Super Scoop comes in 3 size boxes. The 14 lb. sells for around $8.99, the 21 lb. goes for $10.99 and the 30 lb. goes for $13.99. Prices can vary from store and the area you live in. Super Scoop is available in fresh clean scent and unscented. The box is durable and has a no spill spout on the side of the box to pour litter out.
After my experiences with Arm & Hammer Super Scoop I’ve come to a conclusion I won’t be buying this litter anymore. I think Super Scoop would work great for a family with one cat, maybe two, but no more then that. Everyone has different experiences with litter and every cat has different needs. If you give Super Scoop a try I hope you have better luck then I did. Good luck.
