Two rambunctious but loveable male cats inhabit our house.  They are active and like their kitty food and cat grass.  The resulting “mess” is why we have used Arm & Hammer Super Scoop Cat Litter.


Description

Super Scoop cat litter comes packaged in a cardboard box with a carrying handle.  I have seen this litter in a variety of sizes.  Make sure you or your shopping companion has muscles if buying this litter in larger quantities.  It weighs heavy. 

It is advertised as having “Ammonia Odor Block” with baking soda crystals.  According to the manufacturer, the crystals are supposed to neutralize and eliminate odor on contact.  It is also advertised as being 99-percent dust free and low-tracking.


Our Experiences

This product is not my first choice for cat litter.  Our household has confidence in the Arm and Hammer brand.  However, their cat litter isn’t perfect.  I much prefer using Arm and Hammer Double Duty Cat Litter or Arm and Hammer Multi-Cat Litter, but it isn’t always available or on sale.

When I can’t find the cat litter of choice, I buy this Arm and Hammer Super Scoop.  It is packaged similarly to the other Arm and Hammer cat litters in a sturdy cardboard box.  The box has a carrying handle (thank goodness, since cat litter is heavy!).  Punch in the perforated cardboard area near the top of the box to create a pouring “spout”.

This cat litter pours well.  Beware of the dust, though.  Quality control of this product is inconsistent.  Sometimes when I pour it, the dust cloud is enough to coat my shoes.  Other times the dust fallout is minimal.

Super Scoop litter does clump well.  It is easy to troll the litter box using a scoop to capture the clumps.  Cleaning the litter box is a breeze … unless the cats go to the bathroom right against the plastic side of the litter box.  Then the clumping action of the cat litter doesn’t have a chance to surround the mess to completely solidify it.

The Double Duty and Multi-Cat litters do a much better job at odor control.  While the Super Scoop litter clumps just as well, the odor isn’t banished unless the litter is very fresh and virtually unused by the cats.

The cats have two litter boxes in the basement.  I do find litter tracked in and around the two boxes, but the litter stays on the basement floor.  The cats don’t track it upstairs.


Purchasing

I have purchased the 28-pound box at Target for $10.89 each.  Sometimes the manufacturer adds a few extra pounds into a box for an “extra value” purchase.


Summary

Arm & Hammer Super Scoop Cat Litter is what I purchase when the other favored types of litter are not available.  I can usually find the Super Scoop on sale, which is great.  But this cat litter is not a favorite of our felines or their human companions.
