| heckonwheels's Full Review: Armor All Car Wash Concentrate |
Yes, I am popping back in from the wilderness. Heckonwheels has been on hiatus while the child...now an adult...checked into college. As you can imagine, this has had a big impact on our lives and especially our finances. Along with tuition, our fuel-hungry full sized wheelchair-accessible van (that's why I still need to keep it around), is burning a big hole in our budget.
What's this have to do with car wash you ask? Well, taking the car down to the car wash, of course, costs money and time. Our high-clearance van...not fitting in many of today's car wash tunnels...costs even more. What's a dad to do?
Why, break out a ladder and wash his own darn car!
Looking around the garage one day, I noticed the bottle hidden back away on one of the shelves. Armor-All Car Wash. Hmmm, never seen that before. My wife must have picked it up on a whim during one of her shopping trips, might as well give it a try.
A few capfuls went into a bucket with a couple of gallons of water. The van is huge so I grab a cotton mop, dunk it in, and soap up the van. Decent suds, and when rinsed, the dirt is gone.
So far so good, gets the job done as well as any soap should.
Next, I wipe the car down with a standard bath towel. After that, I wipe the windows with another towel and leave to put the ladder away and clean up my mess. About a half hour later I return and behold the crystal clear windows with no water spots to be seen.
This, folks, is a true miracle. I just used it for a "quick and dirty" wash on the van and ended up with the cleanest car and windows I've ever done at home short of hand waxing the car. I've never seen any car cleaning product end up looking this good.
One caveat here, this is not a "spray on, rinse off, and air dry" type of product. You do need to wipe the car down when you're done rinsing but you can skip Windexing your windows when you're done.
It's still a chore to wash my van but it takes me less time than driving to the car wash, costs much less, and I even get to keep the tip.
