| shoplmart's Full Review: Armor All Car Wax |
I have heard all sorts of rumors on different car wax's, such as, 'such and such product' will destroy your paint etc. Despite rumors, there is no car wax currently on the market that will "destory" your paint if used as directed. However there are products that have limited ability protecting your paint, so look for a high quality wax with a guarantee and a good reputation. I have been using Armor All Car Wax for a few years now, and while this is not my favorite wax to use, for the price it works like a charm.
Armor All's Claims: This product is long lasting, and is 'clear coat safe'. It leaves a diamond hard shine, while leaving behind long lasting protection. This product protects 'so well' because this wax penetrates and bonds with your car's surface.
Active Ingredients: None indicated , however Armor All boasts that this wax is blended with Carnabuba Wax ( a natural wax) and petrolium distillates.
Ease Of Use & Directions: This product is not exactly easy to use, as is no conventional car wax. The car must be prepped before using; washed and then completely dried. Before using this product you must shake the bottle well and then apply it to a terry cloth or towel. With the terry cloth you apply a light layer of the product on all painted surfaces, avoiding windows, wood, or decals on your car. This procedure can be quite difficult at times, depending especially on how much rubber is on your car, and other items to avoid. Ironically the more items you have to avoid the longer this wax takes to apply and buff. When the product has dried to a hazy shine ( approx 10 minutes later) buff out using a dry soft cloth. The procedure is relatively painless, but it's a job if you own a large vehicle.
My Experience: I have had good results with Armor All Car Wax, but I have had better results with more recent Wax's such as 'Eagle One Wax As you Dry' and 'Meguiars Gold Glass'. Like some waxes, this wax does not attract bugs. Where I live it seems like every time I use 'Turtle Wax' Wax I end up having a collection of bugs that have somehow decided that my car would be their final resting place. I have had good results however with this product, which leaves my Pontiac Sunfire with a glowing, reflective shine. It does seem that no matter how hard I try, at certain angles I can still see swirl marks when using this product on my car after buffing , but it really is not a big deal unless the sun is setting. For some reason the setting sun, color of my car, and most car wax's just don't mix.
Product Q&A:
Is this product toxic? Despite this not being indicated on the bottle, this product is toxic, and can be fatal if swallowed. If you have a pet or a child make sure this wax is treated like any harsh product or medication.
How long does it take to use? Waxing a small car such as my sunfire takes about 30 minutes. I have waxed my neighbor's conversion van using this product and it roughly took about 2 hours.
How often do I need to use this product? Many people say that waxing your car every other month is fine, however with the driving I do each week, and the dusty conditions/forest fires I wax my car every other week.
How long does a bottle last? A 16 Oz. bottle of Armor All car wax lasts me about 4 months using it on one of my small cars once every other week or so.
Price and Availability: A 16 Fl. Oz. bottle will run between $6.99-$11.99. Why the difference in price? Well places like Safeway for some reason like to add another 5 dollars to the retail price. This product can be purchased at almost all grocery stores, large discount stores, and all automotive stores.
Conclusion: When purchased for $6.99 at stores like Wall Mart, this car boasts one of the best waxes for the price.
