Pros:Beautiful cigar.Very well constructed Connecticut shade wrapper.Burned evenly and easy to light.
Cons: A little expensive for a middle of the road corona....
The Bottom Line: A fine Dominican, hand made, golden brown,Connecticut shade, expertly blended and crafted, mild to medium $7.50 smoke. I don't advise taking the box to the bar with you, they're pricey....
With a Fuente cigar, there's never a compromise with quality. Typical of the company's commitment to the highest quality of blending and production of great cigars is Ashton, a smoke that proves this company is in the market for the duration. The Ashton 898 is everything a good smoke should be. The construction of this beautiful smoke is nothing less than a Fuente master work of art. The guy's that rolled these babies were pro's and I found not a single flaw in there construction. The 898 is a 6-1/2" corona with a 44 ring gauge. This means that the sizing of the cigars is done by an ancient system whereby length is shown in inches and thickness or "ring gauge" is shown in 64th of an inch. The 898 is made with a golden brown Connecticut shade wrapper and the Ashton is famous for the best. The wrapper is the outer tobacco leaf covering the cigar and is ether sun or shade grown under cheesecloth. The Ashton 898 is a is a rich, complex, and satisfying smoke. Fuente achieves this level of perfection by expertly curing and blending 3 to 5 year old tobaccos. The blending of this cigar is done with high grade olor and cubanito long fillers and binders and then topped with the beatiful golden brown Connecticut shade wrapper. I enjoyed my box of 898's and found them to draw nicely and burn even. Have no doubt that this is a fine smoke, but I find myself wondering if it is not a little over priced @ $7.50 a stick. Do your home work and get the best price and the Ashton 898 will taste a whole lot better. So if your a little tired and looking for a change. I recommend this mild to medium Connecticut shade to be a good experience for you pallet but im not so sure about your wallet...Enjoy
