Pros: All that makes ASICS a leader...cushioning, durability, long term comfort
Cons: Nitpicking...colors not the most eye catching, could be more stable
The Bottom Line: ASICS strikes again...great cushioning, comfort of fit, durability, and long term use. Unless you need a high stability shoe, you can not go wrong here.

| rookshark's Full Review: Asics Gel Nimbus Vii for Men |
I picked these shoes up on eBay more than a year ago for long distance running use. Having had good experiences with ASICS in the past, I picked these up even though they were a size 16 instead of my usual 15s.
That should have meant some problems for me, buying shoes that much bigger than what I need. Even though I could see through the mesh (I could see my socks) as well as feel with my thumb that in fact they were too big, I paid no penalty for such frugalness.
The shoe did not seem to be particularly wide or narrow to accommodate me buying something bigger than I needed, but the shoelaces certainly would cinch down when tightened and came up high enough on the foot that I never felt any slippage in the heel.
Comfort was exactly what I have come to expect with ASICS
great. After close to 500 miles, I was feeling a little difference in the cushioning bottoming out
but minor really, they were still very comfortable to wear and use up until I finally retired them from running use. Although the colorway is not my favorite (white with gray and orange accents) I will be keeping these for hack around shoes, as they always fit well, just putting them on my feet.
Durability is good. I did get a little bit of midsole wear from the inside of the shoes occasionally rubbing up against each other (not something that happens with all my shoes, but it is not a first), and the upper shows the accumulated dirt and wear with me never cleaning them, but the outsole looks good, and has plenty of tread life left. The midsole does look to have been compressed a tad, with some creasing.
Stability seems to be improved on the newer Nimbus I just purchased, but that is not to say I ever felt unstable or that they were lacking in this aspect. If you need high stability though
look for one of ASICS other stability focuses shoes, I have personally used some of the 2100 series structured cushioning shoes and been happy as well, although I did not really need the overpronator protection they offered.
I thought the weight of the shoes could be an issue with the bigger size, but honestly they felt even lighter than my other running shoes at the time, which included the ASICS Cumulus. They wont win contests for being the lightest you can get I suppose, but really it was never an issue for me.
Overall I was very pleased with these shoes
enough so to purchase a newer model for running. These offer a nice balance in the ASICS line of not being the cheapest nor the most expensive, but giving you the most bang for your buck. If you want something simpler, the Cumulus are also good shoes, just short of these in performance but much cheaper, and to get something more expensive you would have to look at the Kayano or Kinsei, which offer similar performance, but just for more money.
