Spencer Armacos (Johnny Depp) is an astronaut, with a great career and beautiful wife. Spencer is young and got everything going for him. He goes on one of many missions into space and his wife gets a message that something happened. There was an explosion on the mission and the contact was lost with both astronauts for a whole 2 minutes.
When Spencer comes back and recovers from the accident, everything is back to normal. He is alive and well and there is nothing else to worry about. The only problem about the whole thing is that he never talks about the accident.
Everything seems fine, until Jillian Armacos (Charlize Theron) starts to notice some changes about her husband. Spencer decides to quit his job and accepts a job with a firm in New York. An executive job, where his heroism is going to be a great benefit to the company in designing fighter planes. He is not acting like himself from time to time, which I have not noticed until he came out with some really weird stuff at the end. He is involved in the job and the whole life between him and his wife changes.
Jillian finds out that she is pregnant and what seems like a happy occasion, turns into more trouble then she can handle. She is desperately trying to find out what might have happened to her husband in those two minutes of the space accident. She contacts various people, does some research and at the end.....
To see what happens, you would have to see the movie, but do you really want to. The movie starts out pretty good. We got a very developed actor Johnny Depp (Benny and June, Donny Brosco) and a beautiful also very good actress Charlize Theron (Devil's Advocate). It seems that her character always has trouble when they move to New York, but in Devil's Advocate, it seems that the script had an ending. Eventhough I like confusing endings, which make you think, this movie has, how should I put it, no ending. I mean, may be there is more to it that meets the eye, but I did watch and pay attention and the ending sort of makes it BLAH.
I started watching this movie and thought to myself, I will give it four stars, great acting and great cast. Then as the movie progressed, I even thought of Ok, may three, but that is the lowest I will go. The ending leaves me thinking that the only thing that movie had going for it is a cast and the acting, but the story, could have been better.
The movie had a potential, but I needed a punch line, something to think about, something that will make this whole suspense worth while, but I never got it.
