Pros:large puppy photo for each month, plenty of writing space on calendar, good layout
Cons:only one puppy photo per month
The Bottom Line: An excellent calendar/desk pad for animal lovers.
It is always fun each year to browse through the various calendar offerings. Our office is a heavy calendar user, and Im the one who does the buying. That is how we came to own the At-A-Glance Puppies Monthly Desk Pad.
Description
This is a desk pad calendar that measures 22 wide x 17 high. There are pages for each of the twelve months (January through December). The calendar is backed with cardboard, and the pages are held in place with four clear triangular corners.
Each calendar page features the days of the week (Sunday through Saturday) with each day of the month in a 2 1/4 square. The calendar portion of the desk pad is at the left. To the right is a large photograph (5 wide x 7 1/2 high) featuring a different puppy for each month. Beneath the photograph is a lined area for notes. Running along the bottom of each calendar page are small blocks for each month of the year.
Three extra pages are included as well: Current Year Reference, Future Year Reference, and Dates To Remember.
This calendar is printed on recycled paper with 30% post-consumer material.
Our Experiences
We use a lot of calendars in our office. Each year my coworker orders the At-A-Glance desk pad. Last years pad featured a variety of wildlife images. Among the choices for these 2008 calendars were: Inspirational, Scenic, Antique Floral, and Vista Views photographs. This year we both agreed that the puppy calendar was the cutest.
I love looking at the pictures on this calendar. They are large and easy to view. For instance, the image for January 2008 is showing a Golden Retriever Puppy cuddled next to a teddy bear. The images are colorful with most of the photographs showing one puppy, though February and May have photographs of two puppies together. Some of the breeds are: Labrador Retriever, Beagle, Maltese, Corgi, Shetland Sheepdog, Keeshond.
I also like that the background color of each calendar page is not the same. On many calendars, if the background is white
then all the pages are white. The background colors and textures on this calendar vary from pale gray, to almost unnoticeable light aqua speckles against white, and even a slightly darker gray with faint lines that remind me of wood planks.
The blocks for each day of the week are large and easy to write in. Holidays are noted in the date blocks in a bold capitalized print. The section for the notes at the right offers plenty of writing room, too. Its great that this note area is lined, and the lines are bold so they are easily visible. I especially like that the rest of the year runs along the bottom of each calendar page. This makes it easy to reference other months of the year without having to flip through pages.
Clear plastic corner pieces hold the pages of this calendar in place. The triangular corners are large to anchor the sheets, and they are see-through so that no portion of the calendar is invisible. This desk pad lays flat on the desk similar to a blotter.
When each month is finished, the calendar pages are easily removed. The pages are separate, not attached to each other. We slip the finished month to the back of the calendar to keep the desk pad full.
Purchasing
This calendar retails for $19.19. We paid $17.06 for it from W.B. Mason.
Summary
If you are looking for a monthly desk pad calendar that is more than blocks depicting the days of the month, then this At-A-Glance Puppies Monthly Desk Pad might suit you well. We are enjoying the colorful images
and who doesnt like puppies!
