Atkins Morning Start Crunchy Almond Crisp Cereal ( Crunchy ALMOST Crisp) Yuck!

Pros:Decent flavor, low carb, high protein
Cons:Disgusting texture, expensive
The Bottom Line: Appealing nutritional value for those watching their carb intake, but texture becomes horrible when milk is added. I couldn't eat more than 3 bites.
While browsing my grocery store's health food aisle I came upon this new breakfast cereal from Atkins. Since they were out of my all-time favorite cereal, Kashi Heart to Heart, I decided to try it since I do try to watch my carbohydrate intake, although I am not following the Atkins Diet presently.

~ Product Description
Atkins Morning Start Crunchy Almond Crisp is a cold breakfast cereal that is high in protein and low in carbohydrates, good for folks who are following the Atkins Diet or just trying to control their carbohydrate intake.
The packaging tells us that, "Atkins Morning Start Breakfast Cereals are a hearty and healthful way to enjoy a satisfying breakfast or crunchy snack! ...fuel your morning with rich fiber, soy protein and a hearty taste to keep you going!"
Atkins Morning Start Crunchy Almond Crisp contains no trans fats, is rich in protein and fiber, is a great source of folic acid, has no added sugars, and provides only * 3 net carbs per serving.
Atkins Morning Start Crunchy Almond Crisp is appropriate for Atkins Diet phases 2, 3, and 4. (Not induction phase.)
This cereal comes in the traditional cereal-type box with a net weight of 10 oz. The Atkins website is currently selling one box for about $5.99! Ouch! But if you look around on the net you can probably find it for less, between $4 and $5. But it's still expensive.

~ My Experience
I opened the box and poured myself a bowl of Atkins Morning Start Crunchy Almond Crisp, noticing that the flakes were rather large and somewhat thick. I could see a few pieces of very thinly sliced almonds among the flakes. So far, so good.
I added some milk and dug in. First thought was, hmmm...the flavor is pretty good. A nice vanilla flavor, lightly sweet. The first bite had an okay crunch and I thought I might like it. The second bite wasn't so crunchy and the texture of the flakes began to change. Third bite I could hardly swallow - almost made me gag.
I discovered that the texture of the flakes deteriorates quickly in milk. They get this sawdusty like feel and texture - mushy and yucky. And I mean this happens FAST! Honestly this cereal is inedible, for me anyway. I'm sitting here with a small bowl as reference while I write the review, and I could only eat the first bite. The flakes have turned to total mush - horrible! I'll probably end up throwing the whole box away.
Eating the cereal straight from the box with no milk is the ONLY way I could ever finish this.
~ Final Thoughts
While Atkins Morning Start Crunchy Almond Crisp has appealing nutritional value for those watching their carbohydrate intake, the texture is just disgusting and makes this cereal totally inedible - for me anyway. And it's quite expensive, too. Don't bother.
