My main reason for purchasing this phone was that since my Mom is German and I have lots of relatives whom I visit frequently and I also have a girlfriend here whom cannot stand to be away from me for more than an hour I needed a phone that would work world wide! I did extensive research into this area and found very few phones such as the Ericsson T888 World Phone and the Motorola I9000. But then when I also needed the ability to be able to connect it to my laptop for Internet access this list got even smaller and reduce to just the Bosch 718 World phone so after all of my research I went on the search for this phone. Which might I ad was not easy to find!
* Features
In my humble opinion the best feature on this phone would be its ability to work in almost any part of the world! I have tested it and I does actually work in almost all parts of Europe. The reason I haven't tested it in other countries is because obviously I don't travel many other places. The next best feature is the PC adapter. Its very easy to use unlike some other cell phone/PC adapters. The best thing about it is that it is NOT a PC card it is a special wire that clips into the bottom of the phone and then has a standard phone jack end on it! Just plugs right into your laptops PC Card and this means no new software! Also this phone has numerical paging ability which makes it also act as a pager! Also incorporated is an Internet Paging and Email feature. This feature IS SERVICE PROVIDER DEPENDENT which means your cellular phone provider has to support it in order for it to work! Another convenient feature is the vibration ringer! This is optional but I highly recommend it. It does require the purchase of a different battery! What it does is with this function turned on if your phone is called it will NOT ring but it will VIBRATE to alert you of an incoming call! This is wonderful when you are in say a meeting,movie,theatrical production or just don't want to bother others with your phone ringing! Another wonderful feature is the Answered, Missed and Received call log. It stores a record of all of you incoming, outgoing and missed calls so that you can check them at a later time. Now the incoming and outgoing log are self explanatory so I wont explain those but the missed call log is a wonderful idea let me give you an example of its use. Say for example you are expecting a call from your husband or wife at their job but you don't know the number at their job to call them back and you get out of your car to go into a store and leave your phone in the glovebox and then your wife or husband call, you come back to your car and the phone will be flashing a small phone icon and a 1 beside it! All you have to do is hit identify and it will tell you the number that the call came from and what time the call came in!
And last but not least is the memory dial feature. Say for example you have 4 memory numbers stored in your phone. Your wife or husband is location number one your best friend is location 2 your boss is location 3 and your dogs phone in that fancy dogloo you bought him is location 4!
Well, instead of having to push all kind of buttons to find it on your phone you just push and hold the number that represents the person you want to call. If you wanted to call you boss just push and hold 3 for 5 seconds and PRESTO it dials for you! No fumbling with the phone!
* Call Quality
This phone has remarkable call quality! I have used it in numerous areas including those with very little reception and its always crystal clear! This phone has an echo reduction device to eliminate those annoying echoes of yourself and also a background noise reducer so that the person you are calling doesn't hear the radio in your car blasting! Now you are probably thinking doesn't this background noise reducer affect how the person on the other end hears my voice? The answer is NO it has no effect whatsoever I have asked several people that I have called on my phone about this and they have all told me that I sound like IM on a land line! One time I got accused of being at home and trying to avoid someone by saying I was on my cell phone the sound quality is so good!
* Reliability
This is the most reliable phone I have ever owned. Although what else can you expect from Bosch! As far as talk time and such I have gotten over 4 hours of talk time and over 10 of standby time. It also charges remarkably quickly 20 minutes and its fully charged. Great for when you get up in the morning and forgot to charge your phone and you can charge it while you are getting ready for work! As far as problems I have had or any defects I am proud to announce that I have has one full year of flawless operation from this fine piece of equipment!
* Durability
This phone is incredibly durable. I have dropped it downstairs, out of my coat pocket onto pavement, left it in my car at extreme temperatures and it has never had any problems it has a few scratches but they are barely noticeable due to the very hard and durable plastic used for the exterior! Also I once had a 4 year old run off with my phone and that usually spells disaster! The kid took my phone and literally threw it against a wall and I was thinking to myself "time for a new phone" but I picked it up and pushed the power button and to my surprise it came on and worked flawlessly! No problems at all. This phone will last forever!
* Overall Satisfaction
Overall I am extremely satisfied with my investment! This is truly the best phone I have ever owned! It is well worth the price of $230! I highly recommend this phone to anyone who wants a well made high quality phone that will last for more than one year! Like the saying goes you get what you pay for and if you get this phone you got the best! As always thank you for reading my epinion and feel free to read my others! DYQ685
