| Littleone79's Full Review: Audiovox CDM-4000 Cell Phone |
A couple months ago I had to buy a new cell phone. I decided to go with the Audiowox 4000XL and I am very happy with this phone, much happier than with my older phone. It's easy to learn and use also! It's a very small, light-weigh phone. Sometimes when it is ringing and I have it in my purse it take me 10-15 seconds to find it!
For a face, you have a choice of a silver face or a black face. I prefer the black. Just my own preference. One of my friends has the silver face, and it works exactly the same.
On the window of the phone it will display your name, the date and the time. If you don't want the date and the time shown, it's very simple to turn it off. All you need to do is hit function 4 for times then go to clock and select that you want it off.
Also on the window of the phone (from left to right) it tells you the signal. Four lines is the strongest signal. If your in local area, it will display D. When the phone is In use, IN USE will light up. Also for roaming,(when not in local area) RM will be displayed. If you have voice mail a little envelope will appear. It also shows you the battery strength. Three bars is the strongest.
Voice mail is very easy to use. It has one touch dialing which makes it easy. You also have a button with an envelope and it will let you know how many messages you have waiting. To get your voice mail just press V+ and send (or for one touch just hold down V+) and you will get your messages.
Storing numbers is also very easy. Just dial the number and press store. Then you will need to enter the name. You can have up to 99 saved numbers. Which you can also dial by speed number. For example: Lets say Janice is on memory 4. You want to call Janice. Just dial 4 and send.
This phone also has 15 different rings to it. Some are just basic rings with different tones and sounds, but others are famous little songs. Such as the Can-Can, Yankee Doodle and Happy Birthday. You can select how loud you would like the ring also. One thing I am not happy with though is there isn't a mute option (like in a movie theater) or vibrate. For those people that don't like to leave messages you can still at least have their number that they called! (As long as it's not unlisted)
If you would like you can also put your phone on an auto lock. I find this option to be very good. Just in case it got stolen or you have kids that you don't want using the phone.
Also you can have a keypad lock which I find very convenient. Sometimes when my phone is in my purse, numbers can get pressed and you might accidently call someone. No need to worry with the keypad lock (I always use this option now) Just F11 to turn it on or off.
It also comes with a desk-top charger. It's pretty cool because when it's charging, it says now charging and it is a little gas pump pumping! :)
This phone will also let you see the last 10 numbers that called you, and the last 10 numbers you called. You can do a search also by name or by location number to find a someone's information.
On a bad note, one thing that happens to me about once a week though is I will get an echo. When I am talking to someone what I will say will echo back after I say it. For example: How are you? I will hear my own voice say it. All I have to do though is hang up the call, and call the person back and it's okay.
So all in all, this is a good phone. Some things could be better, but you get for what you paid for. As long as it works and I can make my calls and it is pretty clear, that's what I really care about.
