Varizon bad deal phone

I purchased this Audiovox Model CDM-4000XL, as a replacement for my original phone, which was stolen in April. The people at Varizon (formally Bell Atlantic) were very accommodating and offered the phone that was on sale for $36.00 and said it was a really good telephone and would last for years.
So when I got home with it (plus all the new charging cables for the car and a fitted cover) I charged it up, fed in information and it worked good for a while, but soon the battery did not hold a charge for long. After working with the short on time duration and poor reception in my area of town the charging system gave up in less than 4 months.
This was probably a lemon but Varizon took it in for a three day time period to check it out, than told me “it was water damage and not covered by the warrantee”. I could buy this if the phone had been outdoors, (but it wasn't) anyway they offered to sell me another phone for $80.00 because the previous sales were not in effect.
My contract with Varizon is in effect for the next year and a half and as of now I have no phone and refuse to spend the $80.00 for a second replacement phone, plus the car charging plug and carrying case. I am hoping for a sale to come up on a good phone, and that is how I found this websight in searching for a good cellular phone.
When the phone did work it did store 99 names and numbers and it did pretty well on reception on the highways. But next time I hope we will be able to leave the phone in standby to receive calls,(rather than only to call out) as this phone forced me to do.
I am sure the Audiovox cellular telephones are good phones, otherwise they would have more bad reviews and not be as big as they are, but there are lemons out there and I got one.
