Jury is still out on DV 1680

Pros: Price and built quality
Cons: DVDs sometimes skips or freeze
The Bottom Line: Took a chance on it knowing full well of the bad reviews it received, so far (after 1 month) am pretty happy with it. Just can't beat the PRICE.

The Audiovox DV 1680 is an ideal portable player for kids to trash around in the car or for air travel. It provide all the features from high price units without the high price. Audiovox also include both a AC & DC(12V auto) adaptors, head phones & remote control. The 6.8" screen is great for TV aspect ratios DVDs, not so great for wide screen movies. But as my kids are into Teletubbies, Bob the Builder..... TV animations, it's Excellent. I am still a bit worried about the bad reviews this model have received in amazon.com (picture freezing / skipping / overheating & stop working.) I haven't encounter the freezing or uploading problems, but did skip on me on a couple of occasions.
The feel & look of the unit are good, as it is built of metal construction, but it is a bit bulky (with battery) compare to my other portable DVD player (Panasonic DVD LV55). The battery life is excellent, as it can play past 3 hours with no problem, I can't say that for the Panasonic, as it will only last a bit more than 2 hours.
If the unit continue to perform as expected, i am very happy with it. For $299.00 (Target sale price), you can't beat it.
