scottkillian's Full Review: Audiovox VBP4000 5.6 in. Portable DVD Player
I read the reviews and they don't seem fair. First note that audiovox has no regard for the quality of merchandise they lend their name to. I bought a boom box with the worst quality of anything I ever bought, and a cell phone that could make it through a nuclear strike. The name means nothing look at the product.
The video system comes with one screen, which is bright and easy to see if you are right in front of it. With two toddlers I bought a second screen and used the included harness to put one on each headrest. The second screen was $150, including built in stereo speakers, lots of buttons and inputs, and it draws power from the base through the A/V cable. Not a bad deal at all.
I had this unit for about a year and a half with no problems, the kids watch it every day. I have DVDs, VCDs and sloppy disks I made from internet downloads. It plays everything, regarless of region, format or scratches. Sound quality is good, and with a second screen you get a second remote sensor, good remote, most features easy to use.
The unit is fairly light weight, and easily tucks in a bag provided (video in a bag). Once in the bag you substitute the supplied car plug for the supplied AC plug and you have a DVD anywhere. The outputs go anywhere, RCA SVIDEO, very easy to use with any monitor anywhere. It also comes with a collection of straps to position well in the SUV.
How light is it. Well last night some Genius popped the lock on my SUV and stole it. Pretty light I guess. Hey Genius, if you read this, you forgot the plug, screens, and adapters, Plug it into your A^%$#(^&. Okay, I am fine now. I am shopping for a replacement on Ebay.
I recommend circuit city as the place to buy. Five year warranty available for those with quality concerns. As for the complaint of screen wash at an angle, Yep, but price for performance, good deal.
