Introduction
I am the mommy of four little onesages 7, almost 5, 3 and 2.
What this means is that Ive been washing hair other than my own for the past seven years. Not a big deal, you say? Then you must not have kids, or yours are the rare kind who like having their hair washed.
My two older kids, as well as my baby, arent too crazy about hair washing but they tolerate it well enough. The youngest of my sons, my three year old, hates hair washings with a screaming (literally) passion and I credit a large portion of this to Aussie Land Blue Mountain Shampoo.
Packaging
Aussie Land Blue Mountain Shampoo comes packaged in a bright blue, 10.1 fl. oz. bottle with a bright yellow, flip-top lid. I like the lid, flip-tops are necessary when trying to bathe a kid and open a bottle at the same time.
The front of the Aussie Land Blue Mountain Shampoo bottle has a bright yellow picture of a kangaroo (with a joey in its pouch) wearing boxing gloves that my kids absolutely love.
Claims vs. Truth
Fine or Short Hair/No Tangles!
With short hair you get not tangles from Aussie Land Blue Mountain Shampoo, but only because the hair is too short to tangle. With my daughters baby fine hair I get severe tanglesso much so that I had to buy LOreal Kids Tangle Tamer to keep the screaming down in post-bathing hair styling sessions.
Extra Gentle/No Tears
Extra gentle? Maybe if you are otherwise accustomed to washing your hair with rubbing alcohol or kerosene.
The very first time I used this I should have thrown it away. My second son, who usually will only mildly fuss if soap gets in his eyes, let out a scream that was not to be believed when a bit of this shampoo got in his eyes.
At some point later, my youngest son got some in his eyes and let out a scream ten times worse than his older brother after getting this product in his eyes. It was so distressing to him that he tried rubbing his eyes, and his hands had this shampoo on them as well. What started out as a little shampoo in the eyes turned into a situation so traumatic that my son now screams bloody murder any time I put water on his haireven just to rinse it without soap.
Blueberry Muffin Scent
While this shampoo has a light and fruity scent, I certainly wouldnt say that it resembles blueberry muffins (or blueberries) in any way. Still, it does smell good!
Easy to Rinse
This product is easy enough to rinse out, but make sure you have lathered it up well first. This shampoo is very concentrated, so if you dont lather it up well to thin it out it can be tough to rinse.
Not Tested on Animals
I have no reason to dispute Aussie Lands claims on this matter.
Ingredients
Unfortunately, ulta.com (my favorite place to go for ingredient listings) does not have Aussie Land Blue Mountain Shampoo listed, so I have to manually enter the ingredient list from the back of the bottle.
Water, PEG-80 Sorbitan Laurate, Sodium Trideceth Sulfate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Disodium Lauroamphodiacetate, Hops (Hummulus Lupulus) Extract, Blue Bum Tree (Eucalyptus Dunni) Extract, Stringy Bark Gum (Eucalyptus Acmenonides) Extract, PEG-150 Distearate, PEG-120 Methyl Glucose Dioleate, Polyquaternium-10, Fragrance, Citric Acid, Sodium Citrate, Potassium Sorbate, Tetrasodium EDTA, Porpylene Glycol, DMDM Hydantoin, Disodium EDTA, Copper, Ext. D&C Violet No. 2.
Recommendation
I am cheap, so it is seldom that a product is so bad I will through it away before it is used up. I have done so with my bottle of Aussie Land Blue Mountain Shampoo.
This product is certainly neither gentle nor tear-free, and it does nothing to keep hair from tangling after its use. Try another brand; this one just doesnt cut it.
