Sometimes classic is better than trendy. That's when I wear my Ray-Ban Wayfarers.

Pros:Durable, great clarity, timeless, classic, flattering, simple
Cons:Not enough side sun protection
The Bottom Line: Ray-Ban Wayfarer Women's Sunglasses don't have rhinestones and oversized lenses. they're classic, timeless sunglasses with great clarity for any occasion and with any outfit.
I love sunglasses but I usually buy mid range ones. I don't like to drop hundreds of dollars on sunglasses because I like a variety of styles and I am one who loses everything. I have a few pairs of "good" sunglasses and, included on that list, are my old school Ray-Ban Wayfarer Women's Sunglasses.

These sunglasses have evolved some over the years. They have been made smaller for women rather than being large unisex size although those still sell as well. They also can be folded in half but that's not the original Wayfarer style. There are Wayfarers with polarized lenses which were made well after the originals came out too.
I have these in simple black on black and, although not fancy or overly trendy, they are good sunglasses that have stood the test of time.
About Ray-Ban Wayfarer Women's Sunglasses
Never go out of fashion with these Ray-Ban sunglasses. The RB2140 has plastic frames with a G15 XLT lens, which transmits colors in the same way that our eyes are sensitive to colors. This results in natural vision - true colors that are easy on the eye. The lens is impact resistant optical quality and provides 100% Ultraviolet (UV) protection. It is naturally scratch resistant and has outstanding stability with virtually no time-related fading or alteration of the tint. It comes with a case and cleaning cloth. Size: 50-22-150 mm
These sunglasses come in a variety of colors these days but when I bought them, they were offered in black on black, brown with tortoise frames, and a deep blue frame with smoke lenses. They may have also offered white with smoke lenses as well. I chose the black because I wanted a dark lens and wanted them to go with everything in my wardrobe. I'm not a fan of the tortoise print.
The sunglasses are simple. They have scratch resistant polycarbonate lenses and plastic frames. The Ray-Ban name is written in white on the temples and on the right lens on the top out of the field of vision. These lenses are not gradient. I hate gradient lenses and never understood the concept. They remind me of bifocals which I could never get used to, I am sure. I like my lenses to block the sun from top to bottom.
They have full UV protection and, the newer style Wayfarers also offer polarized lenses. Mine are not polarized. The arms are thick enough to block out the sun from the side but these are not wrap around glasses. They have a almost aviator style lens as they are straight on top and rounded on the bottom. I find them to be extremely comfortable and very durable.
I have had my Ray-Ban Wayfarer Women's Sunglasses for what seems like ages. Ran-Bans were the IT brand at one time and I liked the simplicity of these glasses. They fit my smaller than average head which can really be an issue with glasses. If I buy any ole style, the glasses often fall right off of me when I bend down or even look down because I have a small face and head.
The Ray-Bans stay securely in place without squeezing or leaving indents in my temples. The glasses feature a nice spring when I open and close them. They sort of snap closed and snap open to stay they way I want them. They came with a hard case and a cleaning cloth and I still keep my pair in the original case.
The lenses are very durable. I am pretty tough on my stuff yet they have never scratched or broken. I have dropped the glasses, stuffed them in my purse, wore them clipped to my shirt, on my head, you name it. I just clean the lenses with the cleaning cloth and they look as good as new.
The only sign of wear is that the white Ray-Ban script on the frames is fading some but this is after a about five years of wear.
Ray-Ban Wayfarer Women's Sunglasses go with any outfit. Because of their classic styling, they aren't blingy or overly trendy which is sometimes a good thing. I can wear my Ray-Bans anywhere and look completely appropriate for the occasion.
I think what I like most is the clarity. Some sunglasses make me feel off balance or they distort things when I wear them. These Ray-Ban Wayfarers don't do that at all. Things are crisp, clear, and never distorted. I don't get that weird wiggly feeling when walking as I do with some sunglasses. The sharpness of vision, to me, is the sunglasses' best attribute.
In all, if you're looking for a classic style that will last season after season and never look "celeb-fake", Ray-Ban Wayfarer Women's Sunglasses may be for you. They do come in two sizes now. You can get the original larger size or the smaller ones made very specifically to fit women's faces. The lenses are large enough to cover the whole eye area without being ridiculously large and the wide arms keep the glasses stable as well as protect from "side sun" although not as good as wrap sunglasses can.
I seem to reach for my Ray-Bans quite often, especially when going to places that are a bit conservative, I leave my oversizes, blinged out sunglasses for play. These Ray-Bans mean business!
You can find Ray-Ban Wayfarer Women's Sunglasses almost anywhere that sells higher end sunglasses. Places like Nordstrom and Bloomingdales carry them as well as many sunglasses retailers. They are available online and off. The prices vary and the styles may as well. There are three or four varieties of the Wayfarer now as I mentioned. The original are what you are looking for if you want the ones I described. There are the two sizes to choose from and it's best to try both on to see which looks best on you. They come in a variety of color combinations now as well. The prices vary quite a lot. I saw them for around $95.00 up to $160.00 and more. Definitely compare prices before buying.
Ray-Ban Wayfarer Women's Sunglasses aren't super fancy but they are excellent sun protectants. I think they actually look really good on me. They don't swallow my whole face and they don't look like wanna be rock star or celeb sunglasses. They are made very well, are durable, and the vision clarity is very good. I haven't managed to break or even scratch my pair and I am super rough on my stuff. I think you'll be pleased with these sunglasses. I would prefer more protection on the sides of my temples but, otherwise, these are timeless classics. 4 stars.
