Dear DavidMac: If you like Bergman but find him talky, at the expense of the action, might I suggest that the problem may really be his lack of conventional plotting? Go back to his first film work, and you will find the plotting.

Have you seen his THE SEVENTH SEAL (1957)? Surely, you have, and I hope you would agree that it is his perfect balance of plot, action and philosophical conflict.

Excellent reiview.
