When I was nursing my son, I was a "leaker." When I nursed on one side, I would soak through one or more breast pads on the other side. When I discovered these shells, I bought a set, and after trying them, I bought several more!
The shells are two disks that fit together. One is slightly concave, and has a hold in the middle. The other disk has a pour spout. To use, you put the disks together and fit the hole over your nipple on one breast and close your bra over it while you feed the baby from the other breast.
Once I started using these, I discovered why I was always a mess while I was nursing. It was not uncommon for me to collect 2-3 ounces of milk while I was nursing on the other side. The biggest trick was not spilling the milk after I was done--they were often very full! If the disks are sterilized, it is possible to save that milk for later use. Since I had several sets, I just washed and sterilized them with the baby bottles. I also used these while I pumped breast milk, with the same great results.
If you are a "leaker" while nursing your baby, give these a try. They made my nursing life much easier, and the number of breast pads I needed decreased dramatically!
Avent ultrasoft breast shells can be worn inside your bra to protect your nipples from chafing and to collect leaking breast milk.More at lifepluspharmacy
